What Was The Personal Message 9/11 Had For You?
We may never have a complete understanding of the significance of the
events of 9/11, but the most important message is the personal message
that day had for you. Some of my clients agreed to share their messages in
hopes of helping you to identify yours.
Melissa experienced depression following the events of 9/11. She
identified deeply with the grief that the families losing loved ones were
experiencing. During our work together she realized that she identified
with this grief so deeply because it was an emotion that she too held deep
inside. She had lost her dad unexpectedly and did not have time to say
good-bye. There were issues left unresolved between her and her dad and
she was still holding onto them. Through our work together she was able to
tell him the things she wished she could have said to him when he was
alive. Melissa’s message was to let her know that she was still holding
this grief that she didn’t have the tools to process through initially.
Now she had the maturity and tools to resolve her unfinished business with
Dad and realizes that death was of his physical body, but not of his
Spirit that she could still communicate with.
For Sarah, issues of safety and security came to the surface. She had a
very volatile relationship with her mother growing up. Mom could blow up
when it was least expected so Sarah had learned to always be on her guard.
Sarah had also gone to school in a tough neighborhood and was always
fearful for her safety there. As a child she had learned that her safety
and security were out of her control and she was in a constant state of
anxiety over that which she hadn’t even been aware of because it had
become the norm for her. 9/11 events brought these feelings to the surface
for Sarah. Following 9/11 she experienced high anxiety, feeling out of
control of her safety. These feelings were magnified by her childhood
experiences. As we were able to source these feelings back to their origin
and do the healing there, Sarah was able to feel more at peace, to not
worry about things she had no control over and to trust in the bigger
picture.
Sean had worked for a company that made missiles when he first graduated
from college. Working only on developing a segment of the missile, he was
not conscious of the impact this project could have on the world. 9/11
brought to consciousness for Sean, feelings of guilt and regret for the
decision he had made to work on missile development 20+ years ago. He
feared these missiles would be used and he felt responsible. His work on
forgiving his young adult self for something that he had done that he
could not undo, revealed his tendency to act out of fear. He had feared
that a better job would not come around and had settled for a position not
in line with his truth. Sean learned that it is important to always act
from your principles not just when it is convenient and the importance of
being able to forgive himself and others for their humanness.
For Cheryl, 9/11 brought up a longing to make peace with her mother who
she had been estranged from for several years. A part of her that had
always longed for Mother’s love had come to the surface through the
events of 9/11. Mother had never been able to love her the way she needed
and probably wouldn’t be able to do it now. People have a tendency to go
back and attempt to rekindle dysfunctional relationships in a crisis
because they are looking for comfort in what was familiar. Making peace
with the past and resolving unfinished business is important to our health
and well being, but falling back into dysfunction isn’t going to resolve
anything. Cheryl was able to work with the parts of her that were in need
of love and then made an attempt to contact her mother. Mother was
unwilling to start with a clean slate and Cheryl was able to love Mother
enough to let her go, realizing that she is an adult now and doesn’t
need to compromise her very Being in order to be loved by Mother or anyone
else and that Mother doesn’t need to change for Cheryl to be okay.
Cheryl now has the tools necessary to love the child within and no longer
has a need to seek love and approval from outside of herself. As she goes
inward and loves the child within she will shift her consciousness and be
able to attract relationships that she does want.
The events of 9/11 brought up something for each and every one of us. You
can give significance to the events by receiving the message for healing
that was presented to you, personally. By healing ourselves we can honor
those who lost their lives in their efforts to give us the message that
could save ours. Our personal healing will contribute to the healing of
the planetary consciousness. It is only when we can replace our anger and
pain with love for Self and others that we have hope for peace.
