The Speed of
Life and What it Means to YOU!
NEW!
by Tony Jeary
The speed of life is a global condition that presents a strategic
challenge for everyone. The speed of life combines excessive amounts of
unrefined information with a glut of choices and opportunities and
presents itself in the form of confusion and distraction! How well we
function within this constant condition determines value, competitive
advantage and the ability to create results that will convert a vision or
a dream into reality. These issues are always important but in tough
economic times they are absolutely critical to success.
The speed of life can't be stopped but it can be understood and leveraged
in a positive way. It is a fact that knowledge and information have always
been a cornerstone of power, influence and achievement! However, the speed
of life generates so much information it creates distractions that
unwittingly lead people into well-intentioned busyness. It is a form of
busyness that marginalizes results. The solution is to identify and deploy
high leverage activities that harness the right information at the right
time and focus on action that will move the results needle!

The Logic of Brainstorms
by Eric Maisel, Ph..D.
To be the ethical, engaged, creative,
successful, and lively human being you intend to be, you need your brain.
But it is not enough to possess a perfectly good brain — you must also
use it. If you don’t use your brain you will find yourself trapped in
trivialities, condemned to impulsivity, led around by anxiety, and duller
and sadder than you have any need to be. The cliché is true: your mind is
a terrible thing to waste.

Do-Gooding

Never doubt that a small group
of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the
only thing that ever has. — Margaret Mead
Doing good is no longer just for the
bleeding hearts, but rather is a way of living. I love the notion of do-gooding
and find it akin to breathing, bathing, and being. You cannot escape the
continuous reminders to go green, be socially responsible, or save the
planet. Our culture is infused with a sense of urgency to make a
difference through our daily actions, decisions, and dollars. This section
is full of ideas on how you can leave a lovely legacy not only by being
you but also by reaching beyond yourself.

_________________ Addressing
Our Economy With Spirit
by Dr. Trish Whynot
The worst thing that could happen to our
economy–and to ourselves—is to allow economics to rule our souls. Joy
feeds our souls and when times are tough or scary, the first menu items to
go are often those that bring us the most joy. Even when these items
don’t cost anything, our tendency is to go into self-deprivation mode.
We tell ourselves that we don’t have time for the things that bring us
joy because we are too busy trying to survive. Our fear says we must
choose between survival and joy. While that may seem the “logical”
solution, starving our souls won’t heal our economy.

You Can Do What You Love
by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer
You are a special, unique person, and you have a meaningful contribution
to make to the world. Every person is born with a purpose. There is a
reason you are here; you have a role to play that no one else on the
planet could fill. The special contribution you came to make is your
life’s work. When you are doing that work, you are following your higher
path, and your life will be filled with increasing joy, abundance, and
well-being. Finding your life’s work allows you to create abundance and
money easily. The job or activities that are meant to be your life’s
work involve doing what you love with your time and energy. When you love
what you do, you feel alive, happy, and fulfilled. You radiate joy and
draw many good things to you. You can make money doing work that you
don’t like, but it will take more effort. Not liking what you do with
your time and energy diminishes your flow of abundance; loving what you do
brings abundance more easily and effortlessly.

How To Get Slightly
Famous in Print
by Steven Van Yoder
Early in my career, I wrote an article for a small business magazine about
self-publishing as a marketing tool for businesses. Because I specialize
in helping businesses get into print, the article only took a few hours to
write. A few months later it was published. Almost immediately, my phone
began to ring and my email box filled up with inquires.

Your Job Is Bigger Than You Think
by John Izzo
"There are no great
acts, only small acts performed with great love." --Mother Teresa
It was my first week of my first year in
graduate school. I had arrived in Chicago to study for the Presbyterian
ministry and it was the middle of the year. Aware that I must work to fund
my studies, I searched for a nice "save-the-world" part-time
job, only to discover that all these had already been taken. No work in
hospitals, social service agencies, anti-nuke organizations -- nothing.

Stopping Time

Six hundred feet straight down! Nothing to break the fall. I've got to
switch channels. I don't like my chances on this station. Infused with
youthful caprice, I mused to myself about my predicament. Enjoying the
intense body rush of imminent danger, I was torn between prolonging the
joy-terror and searching for an escape from my imminent demise.

The recession and recent terrorist attacks also took a toll. And because

Love In Business
by Linda Marks
When I was a little girl, I often heard
adults describing the world they worked in as tough, heartless and devoid of
love. Messages like "it's a dog-eat-dog world," "look out for
number one," "it's a cold, cruel world" abounded. As I
watched people go about their daily business, I saw them living the reality
of these messages.

The Art of SpeedReading People: Harness the
Power of Personality Type and Create What You Want in Business
by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger
People come in all shapes and
sizes, and, certainly, every person is unique. But you'll probably agree
that some people are much more alike than others. And behavior that may seem
random is, in fact, quite understandable and often even predictable, once
you understand that person's inborn, natural personality, or genetic
blueprint, if you will, which describes basic psychological characteristics.
And one's personality is by far the best and most reliable predictor of
behavior.

Make Happiness A Habit

A Personal Odyssey.
The rainy morning of June 5, 1986, was the
high point of my thirty-five-year-old life—or so it seemed at the time. I
was full of anticipation, and no downpour could dampen my spirits. That
afternoon I was scheduled to pick up a gleaming new black Jaguar, my first
drop-dead trophy purchase. It said, "Okay, world, look at me. On top!
In heaven!"

Six Thinking Hats: An Essential
Approach to Business Management
by Edward de Bono
An antelope grazing in Africa hears a sound
in the grass. Immediately all the neuronal clusters concerned with danger
are preactivated so the lion is recognized as soon as it emerges from the
grass, and the antelope is able to escape. Such presensitization is a key
part of how the brain works and why it is so efficient.

Free Agent Nation: How
America's New Independent Workers Are Transforming the Way We Live
by Daniel H. Pink
In the second half of the
twentieth century, the key to understanding America's social and economic
life was the Organization Man. In the first half of the twenty-first
century, the new emblematic figure is the free agent—the independent
worker who operates on his or her own terms, untethered to a large
organization, serving multiple clients and customers instead of a single
boss.

differences between paid and unpaid media coverage. Paid media coverage is
referred to as advertising and includes everything from TV commercials, to
banner ads on the web, and grocery store print ads in your local
newspaper. Unpaid media coverage is referred to as public relations (PR)
or media relations and includes everything from the TV news covering a
company's financial results to feature stories in newspapers and
magazines. Click
