Psychic Medium Laura Scott (Issue #16)
by Laura Scott
I recently lost my teenage son to an overdose and have dozens of 'what if I did this or that' come to my mind. I belong to the Compassionate Friends support group for parents who have lost a child and I hear that phrase over and over. What insight can you give us parents who have lost a child and try to blame ourselves when we shouldn't?
Thank you for writing in. My heartfelt condolences to you over your tragic loss. I am glad that you are seeking support from many directions. There is a very simple principle for all of us to learn energetically when it comes to guilt, shame, remorse, & regret. It goes like this: I did then what I knew, now that I know better I do better. Period.
There is no point in looking back with regret because we cannot rewrite the past. We don't have the power to rewrite history. But! We CAN choose to learn from the past and move forward. Because the only place we have the power to effect change is right here, right now, in this present moment. So, now that you know better you do better. You help educate others, you tell your story, you can share what you have learned. That is how you create meaning to such painful tragedy and loss.
Your son is well on The Other Side. You can contact him simply by talking to him or lighting a candle. Watch for his signs. He likes to mess with the radio in the car and move things in your house. Don't worry if he now appears to you or others as younger than he was at the time of his exit, spirits are not bound by earthly rules and constraints around physical appearance and the corporal body. They appear in ways they like, when they felt alive, happy, powerful.
I know you are looking for answers and peace but grief has it's own timetable. Please go gently, and try to relax. The more you allow grace and healing to come in, the easier it will be to receive information from your son on your own. Dad, you did the best you knew then. Truly. From here on, you move forward telling others what you have learned. May the strength and Infinite love that we all come from begin to seep in and give you comfort during this most challenging time.
Holding you in peace, Laura

I am AncientStardust.com's newest fan...having 'MET' you via Bob Oslon on OfSpirit.com. I seek your guidance concerning an on-line friendship/relationship I recently 'LET GO' of after seven months. He had a habit of 'disappearing' for weeks (with no apology or explanation). Is he playing a mind game? Perhaps I am at fault here? I am strangely attracted to this man. Please enlighten me on his perplexing behavior and what he thought of the 'letting go' situation. Thank you Laura and God bless.
Thank you! Okay, now let's be honest here. You haven't really let go yet. You only partially let go. So let's get you the remaining 20% of the way. To borrow from a very popular book, "he's just not into you." There is no burning mystery, no clandestine opportunity missed, just a guy who had you on retainer and wasn't into having something more.
Take a deep cleansing breath and lets create a ritual for letting the last 20% go so you can have peace and clarity. Release the urge to settle for less. Focus on what you are truly worth. Don't you deserve to be with someone who is present? Who is reliable? Who is honest? Who is consistent? Who is accountable? Use the Ancient Stardust Intuition and Manifesting CD to help visualize what 'the real thing' looks like for you (and be sure to include important details like your new partner is ready, willing, and able to prioritize you!). Don't settle for less. Don't waste time convincing yourself it was you. It wasn't.
Say out loud "I am willing to move on and embrace my true worth" whenever your mind drifts backwards. This will help you to raise the benchmark of what you require in a relationship. Remember, internet relationships merit supreme vigilance and caution. My vote is you pay closer attention to the guys standing in line behind you at Home Depot...because no 'screen font' will ever substitute for the 'live' reaction of physical chemistry, pheromones, and some good old fashioned face to face conversation.

I am grieving the loss of my dog who was with me for 13 years. I was not present with him at the time that he passed on. I feel I abandoned him when he needed me the most. I have been having a deep sense of guilt. I want to try and contact him and know how he is doing and if he has forgiven me. Can you help me?
Yes, I can help. I know it is hard to lose a member of your family (whether they had four legs or two). There is nothing to keep feeling guilty about. You did the best you could then. When an animal prepares to leave their body, like us, they are never alone. They are greeted and embraced by angels, guides, spirits and more. Animals have a great deal of intuition and connection with The Other Side. Many times they prefer to cross over when we are not with them so that we are not burdened with their parting and they will not be so torn about leaving. Wild animals often go off by themselves away from their kin to pass in private.
Our companion pets are very aware of our emotional state and hate to burden us with stress (which they work to lesson for us in our daily lives). Your dog would never be mad at you over this or hold a grudge. Instead he is skipping through the meadow on The Other Side that all pets cross over into. He looks alive, robust, and full of life! Watch and listen for him...the sound of his paws in your house, a glimpse out of the corner of your eye. His spirit urging you outside to enjoy the day (he walks with you still!). And, he'll likely come in one of your dreams too. Big hug to you

Are we having global warming? Will this crazy weather be better in 2006? Should I move? If so where?
Yes, we are undergoing global warming. It's real. The earth's temperatures are rising and the polar ice caps are melting at unprecedented rates. A warming ocean means a rising ocean and also causes all sorts of issues. Weather patterns are changing and the new 'norm' is that we are existing in an unstable weather paradigm. Just look at the number and intensity of hurricanes last year for starters. 2006 is going to be another turbulent year of weather of all types. The frequency of tornadoes, windstorms, hurricanes, mud slides, earthquakes, and more are increasing. This continues for the next decade. A good rule of thumb during such a time of shifting is to always keep an eye on the weather in your travels. Raise your awareness, not your paranoia and you will be fine.

During meditation I reach a certain point of relaxation and then I feel like I am falling backwards. It's very unsettling and it startles me out of the flow of meditation completely. What is going on?
You are starting to astrally project and a falling sensation is common when folks are leaving their body. A lot of folks leave their body without even knowing what it is...have you ever started to fall asleep, even begun dreaming you were somewhere else perhaps slipping on a stair or hearing a noise, and then jerked yourself awake? It's the same thing. You are out of the body and when the conscious mind is still on, it says, "hey, this can't be right," and yanks you back.
Astral Projection is nothing to be afraid of. It's just moving the spiritual body (the etheric body) out of the frame of the physical body. A beautiful golden cord assures that the etheric body is always attached to the physical body. When you are outside of the body you can travel, explore, go across town, remote view and more! Each time you meditate you probably don't want to astrally project so retrain yourself to stay grounded and centered during meditation...relaxed but still in your body. When you want to astrally project, remind yourself to go further (outside of the physical body) and to ease out gently. That should help with feeling less startled. Have fun!

What should you do when a friend lets you down and doesn't get it when you try to tell them?
We've all been there and it definitely hurts. If they don't want to listen, aren't willing to take it in, don't accept responsibility or don't want to 'get it'...then you move on. You gather up your dignity and your valued self, and you move forward in another direction elsewhere. Much as we'd like to, we just can't make other people grow.
