Psychic Medium Laura Scott (Issue #12)

Could you please explain to myself and your readers the nature of time in our lives and the important role it plays? For example, why must we age? Also, what importance is there in being "born" to a particular time and place? Thank you! Wade Werner
Thank you for your juicy questions. Time is a phenomena that exists on the Earth Plane only. There is no such thing as time on The Other Side. Remember that scene in the movie "Contact" when Jodi Foster's character made contact with The Other Side for what seemed like hours, only to be later told it that was mere seconds on earth? We deal with time here as yet another way to help our souls learn and progress. It is part of the package of this earthly voyage right along with the aging process. Aren't we lucky!
Without these two items, aging and time, we would have no bench marks to know that our existence is indeed happening and unfolding. We would also have no incentives to push ourselves forward-"do it now!"-learning and growing. We would look in mirrors and continue to appear unchanged outwardly. Each and every juncture of earthly living is a distinctly different period and opportunity for development. From preschool, to pre-teen, to post graduate, to thirty-something, middle-aged, to early retirement, to elderly...it all means and signifies something here on earth. Believe it or not, we need the tension that time and aging create because it is another learning catalyst for us. If we didn't have these phenomenon, we would be in a state of perpetual bliss and existence, very similar to being on The Other Side, and then what would be the point of coming into this earthly realm?
Our bodies are designed to expire; like cars. It is part of the deal here on earth. As we age physically, we hopefully also become more aware of our selves, our physical capabilities and possibilities. Philosophies like 'seize the day', 'make hay while the sun shines', 'attitude is everything' and so on help shape and mold our daily experiences. The changes that come with aging and the passage of time create a type of goal system, for instance: "when I get tall enough I will ride a big bike', or ' as soon as I can drive...', 'after I graduate college', 'once the mortgage is paid off', 'once I am in remission', 'after physical therapy is finished', 'when my real hair color grows out'...etc. Statements and expressions like these are used to quantify time, help us measure and make goals, etc. They may sometimes reflect our inner progress and change as well as our outward ones. Notice I said sometimes. Because like it or not, whether you are maturing or not, aging and the passage of time will happen here on earth. For all of our marvels and advances to discover and quantify time, the one thing that seems to have alluded us is how to stop or reverse it. Ultimately, no matter how much we love our 'cars' - things are indeed designed to wear and change. How we deal with those concepts is a matter of choice and attitude. After all, life is always what we make it.
As for the significance of being born in a particular time and place...we chose it all for ourselves from The Other Side before we get here. Some come back to particular places of empowerment, others to create an opportunity to heal an unresolved energy from the past, others because they are fascinated with certain geographical areas or others arriving at that particular juncture. It's all part of the soul's learning journey.

Dear Laura, I went to a big name reader and had a horrible experience. This person kept saying they were accessing their guides and not mine. I felt that they were on auto pilot, not listening to me and just trying to sell me their course for $7,000 to become more psychic. The experience was such a let down. Any advice? N.J.
I have been hearing this more and more. Generally speaking, first, just because a person is famous in any field, doesn't always necessarily mean that they are outstandingly talented, perfect, or exempt from having a bad day. It also doesn't mean that their intentions are always lofty. Second, always try to research as much as possible before making your own selection for a reading. Remember, just because your friends loved a particular movie or restaurant doesn't mean that you will. Ask their office staff what a reading is like, read testimonials, articles, etc., so you can make the most informed and appropriate choice for yourself and your needs as possible. Check out BestPsychicMediums.com, where Bob Olson has done a great deal of that footwork for you. Third, remember that you are always in charge of yourself and no one but you controls you. Examine your expectations before making a decision or selection. Fourth, if you feel things are going horribly, calmly state your concerns and be open to discussing them. Use this as an opportunity to learn and to grow. I send you much peace and healing friend.

Dear Laura, Is it possible for someone to have memories of being on the Other Side?
Yes it is! This phenomena is more common amongst older souls who often have a sense of homesickness for something that doesn't exist here on earth. Others experience a blurring of boundaries catching snatches of memories and recollections during dream or waking states. Our 'lives between lives' is just beginning to get more attention here on earth. During that time when we are without a body but most definitely alive in spirit, we often have great support systems, social activities, loves, thirst for knowledge, music, and more all on The Other Side. Coming to earth is seen as a noble gesture of necessity for learning. This is also why in addition to our spirit guides and loved ones on The Other Side cheering us on, we also have treasure troves of lifetimes of friends and others rooting for us down here. Although time here on earth may appear stalled and slow going, in a blink we are back on The Other Side, reunioning, laughing, and more... so make the most of each day here while you can!

Dear Laura, What is the difference between fate and Karma? I often feel a strong connection to another person and believe we have had past lives together. Do we always have to repeat past life issues or are we here again with the chance to resolve those issues? If someone hurt you or thought you were responsible in the past, does this mean it is doomed to happen again? Curious
Dear Curious, Don't worry, both fate and Karma are sometimes used in overlapping ways. Fate is a belief that something is supposed to be happening as deemed by a power greater than yourself. Karma is a Hindu or Buddhist term describing when actions bring upon themselves inevitable results (good or bad!) in this life or in reincarnation....creating a type of fate.
Yes, it is common to meet people and have a feeling of resonance-either good or bad. But, I don't believe that fate or Karma must be viewed with a form of resignation or fatalistic approach. If we remain aware and conscious in the moment, constantly seeking understanding from the Highest Place possible, then we do have the ability to learn and grow and affect changes to what was previously thought to be predetermined. That is what our free will affords us. In other words, if you recognize something as your chance to do better now, and do so, you can heal karma and shift outcomes. That is why free will is such a powerful force!

Dear Laura, Thank you for all you do to help others. Can you tell me if you believe in intention? How is that different than willingness? U.K.
Hello U.K. Yes, I absolutely believe in intention! The difference between intention and willingness is this: Intention is directing your focus towards a goal or purpose. Willingness is the act of happily showing up for life and being available for and interested in engaging in life each day. Without willingness, there is no effective intention. It is the Divine Catalyst for all the other metaphysical work to get done. You might have the intention to get a better job, but without your willingness to rework your resume, network, apply or go on interviews, your intention may know no fruition. We need both to do our best living.

Dear Laura, I have been told by everyone who speaks of reincarnation that we do this to better ourselves and become perfected enough to go back to God. If each lifetime bring on new problems and different mistakes than how do we ever get perfect enough to not to have to reincarnate again? DT
Hi DT. ahhh, there is a lot of agitation in your question...let me see if I can put your mind at ease and restore your faith in the process. The only person (or being) judging your progress is you. Let me say that again, the only person (or being) judging your progress is you. We are our own determinants of our number of reincarnation experiences. After we leave the body we undergo a 'life review', during this time, it is quite common for the newly shed soul (from the earthly body) to immediately feel as if they could have done more, been better, and so on. Specialized counselors on The Other Side help us during this 'cocooning' process to not be too hasty in judging ourselves and immediately jumping back into the 'incoming' line.
The nature of our souls on The Other Side is to desire perfection and infinite knowledge for God. We pack our own life experiences with opportunities for this and then when we get here we forget them all. We have to, otherwise we would not be fully experiencing our lessons here. Then we spend the rest of our lives remembering in flickering bits and pieces the Truth from which we come.
Try to see your life as one gigantic opportunity-lumps, bumps and all! Use affirmations like: "Despite appearances, everything in my life is ALWAYS working for good." You are having a crisis of faith DT, and by seeking out more faith now, you will feel more at peace and inspired to do the very best you can with the journey you have at hand.

Hi Laura, I have very low self esteem and am destroying myself with negative thoughts. How do I feel better about myself? I have done some bad things in the past and now it is all erupting in my mind and I can not take it. I would be very happy if you have any suggestions or what i should do. I am on an anti depressant and I really do not know if it is working. I thank you for your time. Sincerely, L.
Hello L. First, your anti-depressant is not doing all it needs to do. You are also having anxiety and you need to talk with your practitioner about adjusting medications and monitoring your reactions more closely. Second, there is a very simple and profound concept that heals guilt. It goes like this: When you know better, you do better. That's it, like I said, simple and profound. None of us can change the past, the power exists only in the present moment. Third, in addition to your allopathic (prescription medications) care, there are some Bach Flower Essences that will also help you: Pine (for guilt), White Chestnut (for runaway thoughts), and Crab Apple (for feelings of shame). Rescue Remedy is great for stress as well.
I will also send you some peace and healing friend. Remember, a challenge like this is a great opportunity to use your willingness. Affirm "Every day, in every way, I get better and better. The past is past, I now claim my power in the present moment. I am safe. I go beyond past limitations and embrace my Divine Right to a peaceful life."
