Dear Laura,
I have been told by everyone who speaks of reincarnation that we do this to better ourselves and become perfected enough to go back to God.  If each lifetime brings on new problems and different mistakes than how do we ever get  perfect enough to not to have to reincarnate again?

Dear  D.,
Great question! Actually, what's interesting is that we are the own judges of our life experiences. We are the ones who decide if we can do it better, or differently upon reexamination.  This all happens in a process known as your life review.  During our life review, many are overwhelmed with not only ALL that they experienced and felt, but with all the feelings and experiences that their actions had on those around them.  There is a lot of support for souls when they go through this process, because the knee jerk reaction can be, "let me go back and do better!"  but with much support and counseling, we learn from our life reviews and to slow down a bit as well. Yes, eventually we do reach levels of perfection and move on from the reincarnation process.

Can you be an "advanced, old soul" in the spirit realm having great abilities, knowledge and come to incarnate on earth and be like an infant, relying on intuition only and wondering what is this all about?

Dear  Dorothy,
Yes and no.  Certainly, all souls must go through the birth process here and develop through infancy...but as we begin to age, the veil slips down and basically we spend the rest of our lives remembering in bits and pieces the truth about who we really are.  At least souls that are older are willing to ponder this, while younger souls will tell you, " I never give it much thought."   Older souls can bring quite a bit of "unexplainable' knowledge into their incarnations...like an interest and talent for exotic cooking, or a love or talent for  languages--specific types of knowledge without any evidence of schooling or study in those subjects in this lifetime.  Old souls also tend to chart more difficult paths for themselves, whether it's through relationships, familial struggles, or more.

Can a body walk about without a spirit or soul?  Someone said there were more babies born than spirits wanting to incarnate and so minions or animal spirits inhabit those bodies.

There are a LOT of schools of thought out there, and I have not way of knowing who you are specifically quoting.  I will say this, we are seeing the highest population ever here on earth, and but this has more to do with a burgeoning interest on The Other Side of beings who want to come in to experience life on earth now. We are undergoing a renaissance of sorts here on earth in terms of spiritual awakening and shifting and that is garnering a lot of energetic attention.  This attracts interest from many realms of the galaxy...so those from other galactic forms and shapes are coming in, but it's not at all as scary or epidemic that some theorists would have us believe.  There are many Universal Laws at work, and all bodies must have a spirit or life force as part of Divine Contract, even animals, and plants!

These events are part of all of our Divine Contracts in order to help reawaken us to our higher energies and life work.  They are like part of a Divine "tune up", or an inspirational maintenance plan.  With each passing event, more and more people awaken spiritually and those shifts, no matter how small, benefit us all.

I pray that you can help me out. my father was very mean to me and my sisters when we were small, he was sexually abusive and a terrible father. He is not well at all now and I just know that his death is not far away.  My question to you is I am so scared when he dies that he will be earth bound and continue to abuse us as he has done in the past. We have already agreed not to talk about him when he dies for fear he will hear and haunt us. What can we do to prevent this from happening?

Dear Shirley,
I am very sorry to hear of your pain and continued fears. They have dictated to you quite a lot over your lifetime, and when you are ready, you can let them go.  You don't have to wait for your father to die in order to take your life power back. You can start anytime you choose by changing your thoughts and using affirmations.  The real power is always in the present moment.

Victimizers, persecutors, controllers and such, are here to teach the rest of us about humanity, boundaries, and more. The behaviors they choose can wreak havoc in our lives, scar our hearts and minds, and challenge us in infinite ways.  It is important to understand that at any time we can choose to change how we think about them and therefore change our life experiences.

I suggest that you and your sisters begin by working with a professional counselor who is experienced in the types of traumas that you have had. Pick up Louise Hay's classic book, You Can Heal Your Life and her accompanying workbook and use them. This will give you some step by step tools for understanding and navigating this new territory of metaphysical energy.

It is time to let your father go. Stop giving him energy by continuing to let him invade your thoughts and fears.  You are an adult now, not the helpless little girls he once wounded so deeply.  A good professional therapist will help you to remember that.  In time, you can learn how to feel safe again, and how to love and take care of yourself in new, healthier ways. 

Remember, the only person you can control is you, and if you put all your energy into fear,  then there will be little room for living and doing the learning and growing that you really came here for.   I send you peace and understanding friend, along with my heartfelt prayers for healing, and a poem that has helped me time and again...

I have heard some say they channel only specific beings from The Other Side, or only guides or only angels....so why is it different? Like a radio frequency to The Other Side?

Yes, you could say that.  It has to do with individual's wiring and also with their soul contracts and what we have each charted for. I  am able to communicate with Spirit Guides, Angels, Master Teachers, The Committee, deceased loved ones and more. Dear Laura,
My family and I have a cottage on a lake in Maine.  We love to spend time there relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.  It's idyllic and all of our neighbors up there are so nice and are great people except for this incredibly dysfunctional family that live on the same road as us.  These people are year-round residents and resent the "summer people".  The husband beats his wife.  They don't work, instead they deal drugs and steal from the neighbors, breaking into their homes.  They destroy other people's property and are just generally hateful.  They are high-school drop-outs, substance abusers, criminals, and I have been told that incest has also occurred.  Laura, so many people have tried to help this family only to be stabbed in the back.  The police do nothing.  They say nothing can be done until there is proof in the form of photographs or catching these creeps red-handed.  Or until some one is killed.  Yes, that's what we've been told.  The whole atmosphere of that beautiful place seems poisoned by this family's energy, and I'm afraid, and angry!  Please offer me some advice.  I pray for protection all the time when we're there.  Thanks Laura.

Wow! This sounds like an episode of Dateline, or a movie. Unfortunately, it's real life.
First, whenever a crime has been committed, you need to contact the police and let them handle it. Second,  unless you have a neighborhood association or are part of a legal community (like a condo association) with bi-laws, fines, and rules, there isn't a lot you can do except form a neighborhood watch.  Third, metaphysically speaking, I suggest that you affirm:  My family and our property are protected by the powerful White Light that always surrounds us, at all times.  Fourth, I suggest that you affirm/visualize releasing this family "moving on to their greater good somewhere else."   Fifth:  Concentrate on the neighbors you enjoy and try to stay positive; avoid gossip.  And lastly, I would ask myself why I attracted this experience into my life path and what I can learn from it.  If all else fails, short of you and the other neighbors offering to buy the owner out, you can move, but I hope it doesn't have to come to that.

Dear Laura, can you give me some tips for dealing with confrontation?  I am a nervous wreck.

Dear LM,
For starters, is the person you are confronting rational? Because that makes a big difference in whether or not you should ever engage in confrontation.  Trying to sell sanity to the insane is not a good use of time. Plus you may wind up getting some of their chocolate on your peanut butter.  So the most important tip is:  Assess what or who you are dealing with! Always be safe.  Never debate gun control with someone who is holding a loaded gun. Got it?

Then, if all signs indicate a rational encounter, it helps to write out your points ahead of time. Being prepared helps to remove the fears that make us tongue tied.  Stay calm.  Stick to the issues and facts, while avoiding making judgments about character.  Be clear: when you did X, it makes me feel Y, and caused Z to happen.  Remember a few key phrases so you can use them to keep the confrontation on the issue. Take some Rescue Remedy to help you calm down and think through the smoke of it all.  There aren't a lot of people who really like confrontation, so by approaching things calmly, a win-win can arise.  Congratulations on finding your voice!

Greetings, I would like to know if and how we can send good wishes to our deceased love ones. I once heard a medium tell a woman to "send him good thoughts". How can I be sure that my brother is at peace?

Dear Sio,
The reason for sending our deceased loved ones 'good thoughts' is actually quite simple. Once we leave the body, we (that is our spirit) is pure energy.  And, here on earth, our thoughts contain energy.  Energy understands energy.  Your brother, like so many on The Other Side, can hear and sense your mental energy.  Truly, he is only a thought away!  Sending him good thoughts is an energetic equivalent to sending someone on earth a card, 'just because you were thinking of them', or leaving a message on their answering machine.  Your brother is fine, and has done a lot of healing on The Other Side.  Your issue is understanding and embracing that his peace increases when he knows that you are truly well.  When he hears you worry less, he worries about you less, it's that simple.  So, send him your good thoughts, and know that he gets them.  In time, you will see him again, but for now, you will have to use the 'energetic postcards' we all have at our disposal.  AND! When thoughts of him ''pop" into your mind, you  an know that he has just sent you an energetic postcard back!
