Making
Your List And Checking It Twice: Feng Shui For The Holidays
by Katherin Perrin
As you prepare for the holiday season, may I gently prompt you—where are
you going to put it all?
The holidays bring so many wondrous aspects into our homes and lives and
making room for it all can assist in a graceful and joy filled holiday
season.
According to Feng Shui traditions, energy is meant to flow and wander in
your environment. When it can flow naturally, easily and vibrantly, it is
believed that we too will flow naturally, easily and vibrantly.
Cleaning and fixing powerfully contribute to increasing and improving the
flow of energy in your space. Stacks, piles, too much and too many
can and do hinder the flow of the energy in your environment; therefore,
just get rid of it.
If you consider the Feng Shui premise that our home is a mirror of our
lives, the belongings, treasures, piles and stacks that we surround
ourselves with are taking up space in our lives. Eliminating those things
which no longer reflect who we are, get in the way, are broken or we never
liked to begin with—we are making space for our lives to show up
differently. There is literally more physical and energetic space for your
life to show up. Your energy will be lighter and less cluttered and
because we know like attracts like, you too will attract a lighter and
less cluttered life. Pretty awesome, I think!
As we are making those lists and checking them twice, I’ve gotta ask the
question—is there room for these new things to come into your life? Are
you going to be squeezed with the additions? Will it make your space and
life more hectic? Will it be that perfect addition which completes the
space and brings peace? This is certainly not to hinder or dwarf that list—it
is a prompting to make room for these new and wonderful additions.
Start in the bedroom—according to the tradition of Feng Shui, this is
the most important room in our lives. It is where we spend the most time
and important decisions are made. Stand in the middle of the room—how
does it feel? Does it feel restful, reflective and comfortable? Do
you love everything in the room—bed linens, lamps, plants and furniture?
It is important that we love it all and that which doesn’t meet the
‘love it’ criteria -Just Get Rid of It. Perform this exercise in any
room or area of your home (or office). You will be amazed and inspired by
the relief, release and extra room in your life. You’re gonna feel
great!
May this holiday season be a calm, loving and joy filled expression of
your Highest Self.
Be well and in the flow…
