High-Protein
Diets: Are You Losing More Than Weight?
by Monique N. Gilbert
Protein is a vital nutrient,
essential to your health. In its purest form, protein consists of chains
of amino acids. There are 22 amino acids that combine to form different
proteins, and 8 of these must come from the foods we eat. Our body uses
these amino acids to create muscles, blood, skin, hair, nails and internal
organs. Proteins help replace and form new tissue, transports oxygen and
nutrients in our blood and cells, regulates the balance of water and
acids, and is needed to make antibodies. However, too much of a good thing
may not be so good for you. Many people are putting their health at risk
by eating to much protein. Excessive protein consumption, particularly
animal protein, can result in heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, and
kidney stones. As important as protein is for our body, there are many
misconceptions about how much we really need in our diet, and the best way
to obtain it.

The
Toby Years
by Jan Strnad
Surely one of the most sublime dances of
our species is the one we dance with our pets.
We seek them out and bring them into our
lives and our homes. We cater to them, we train them to entertain us, we
meet their needs for food and shelter, we provide medical care and love
and adoration.
In return, they exist. They
do what they do. Fish swim. Cats lie in sunbeams. Dogs scrounge.
My intellectual side tells
me that whatever pets give us, they give as a matter of course, out of
habit and instinct, oblivious to the significance we assign to their
behavior.

Cosmic
Patterns: Neptune & Pluto
by Celeste Longacre
Astrology is the very ancient
art of looking toward the heavens for guidance about mundane events. It is
a guidepost for us mere mortals to chart a course in alignment with cosmic
principles: "as above, so below." The celestial dance of the
planets through the backdrop of the constellations identifies for us the
greater currents of awareness in which we are participating. Astrology
sings us its song.

Sometimes
The Landscaper Is Really An Angel
by Mary M. Wellman, Ph.D.
An extraordinary thing has
happened a couple weeks ago , during the Will to Harmonize week. This is
the Divine Will that brings beauty, color, flowers into our lives. We have
new landscapers, and the crew was here for three days seeding,
transplanting, and putting in a new perennial bed. I have never looked
forward to people being on the property. I love my solitude and peace and
quiet. So I resigned myself to this apparent intrusion.

Recommended Book |
Psychiatry and metaphysics blend together in this fascinating book
based on a true case history. Dr. Weiss, who was once firmly
entrenched in a clinical approach to psychiatry, finds himself
reluctantly drawn into past-life therapy when a hypnotized client
suddenly reveals details of her previous lives. During one hypnosis
session his client introduces the spirit guides who have been her
soul therapists in between lives. This is when the story really
takes off for Weiss, who discovers that these guides have specific
messages about his dead son as well as Weiss's mission in life. No,
we cannot verify the truth of this story using the limited
scientific tools we have available. However, it is hard to dispute
that this well-respected graduate of Columbia University and Yale
Medical School has discovered a personal truth that has led him to
be an enormously popular speaker, author, and leader in the field of
past-life therapy.

21: Create The Life You Want From The Inside Out - 6 Week Coaching
Class |
Develop your vision with
Linda Marks, author of Living With Vision: Reclaiming The Power
Of The Heart, and has written 18 articles published on
OfSpirit.com.
Vision is a creative capacity within us all. Vision is different
from a goal, although we can set goals that allow us to move towards
our vision. Our heart is a compass for finding and following vision.
To find our vision, we need tools to explore what really matters to
us.
This six week class will provide a structure, tools and techniques
to listen to your soul, body and heart to unearth what really
matters and allow you to incorporate it into your daily life.
The class will help you develop your vision and translate it into
practical steps for daily life. We will: 1) Use meditation, creative
and evocative exercises to reveal and clarify our evolving
vision. 2) Develop a practical action plan each week to help make
your vision real in daily life. 3) Provide coaching to unravel
blocks that prevent us from getting what we really want.
Thursdays from 7:30 - 9:30 pm (June 21 - July 26). 3 Central
Avenue, Newton. Fee: $275 ($250 for repeat participants). To
register or for more information call (617)965-7846.
