Death Be Not Feared! Comforting
Insight For The Suffering, Grieving And Dying.
by Bob Olson, OfSpirit.com Editor
I believe that we can alter our life today
simply by learning not to fear death. And by fearing death less we
discover that we live life more! Shakespeare comments on this in Julius
Caesar: “It seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that
death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.”
Isn’t it remarkable how this natural
transition from one life to another—from our life on earth to our life
in spirit—is so feared, yet it is a transition we will all be making? I
believe that it is our ignorance of death that makes it so feared. And our
ignorance remains because most of us do not acknowledge that death exists.

An Emerging Planetary
Civilization: An Interview With Elia Wise
by Carol Bedrosian
When I first received a copy of Letter
to Earth, a hardbound, exquisitely presented volume of
transformational, multidimensional information, I cast the book to one
side as just another pretty vision from yet another channeled entity. I
even remember sneering at the author's self-congratulatory name—Elia
(ee-lee-a) Wise. But a few weeks later, I found myself curious about what
was so important in this book that such money, care and effort had
obviously gone into its making. Someone wanted it read so I cracked the
cover, admired the full color inside cover papers and toyed with the
silky, ribbon bookmark. As I read the first few introductory
lavender-tinted pages of a letter Wise wrote to her four-year old
daughter, I recognized the familiar buzzing of what I call universal
resonance an awareness that the '"truth" I was reading was
universal; it was meant to lift us all up because it could apply to
everyone, everywhere, all over the planet regardless of age, sex,
nationality, dass or belief. Universal teachings always promote
oneness.

A Look at the Famous Astrologer
Evangeline Adams
by Karen Christino
Here are some of the legends: Evangeline
Adams made astrology legal in New York. She predicted the Windsor Hotel
fire, the stock market crash of '29, World War II, the deaths of King
Edward VII, Enrico Caruso, and even herself. Her books, now all out of
print, are eagerly sought after by students, and even stolen from library
shelves. Her reputation rests on her astrological expertise, but she was
also known to be a palmist. Some even say she was primarily psychic or
clairvoyant. But the fact remains that she was the best-known American
astrologer of her day. I was fascinated by this woman, and intrigued by
the events in her life. Just what was true, and why is it still discussed
over half a century after her death? As I began researching Adams' life
for my book about her, I would ask these questions again and again.

Gaia In Our Hearts
by Susan Meeker-Lowry
As far back as Paleolithic times ancient
peoples fashioned clay and stone images of the Great Mother, images with
voluptuous breasts and thighs and the protruding belly of a woman who has
given birth many times. Her face is often featureless and her head tiny,
but her body is full and soft, the essence of fertility and nurturance.
Over the course of time the Great Mother was honored and worshipped by
virtually every culture.

Sanders Theatre, 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA. Tibetan Buddhist

In Eating Well for Optimum Health, one of Amazon's
bestselling health books of 2000, alternative-medicine maverick
Andrew Weil revealed his version of the ideal diet (and backed it up
with scientific proof): a variety of unprocessed, or
"whole" foods; just-picked, organic vegetables; whole
grains; "good" fats, such as the omega-3 fatty acids found
in fish and nuts; fresh herbs and spices instead of heavy sauces;
and a minimum of meat and dairy products. Eating this responsibly is
certainly an admirable pursuit, but home cooking of this caliber can
be intimidating, requiring much more energy than it would to pull up
to the drive-through and order a burger and fries. In The Healthy
Kitchen, Weil successfully teams up with Rosie Daley, formerly
chef at the ritzy Cal-a-Vie Spa, to show how to cook with confidence
within these dietary guidelines, creating dishes that are not only
good for you, but are also fun to prepare, beautiful to look at, and
delectable.
For those of you predicting a
tofu-fest, have no fear: Weil stresses he's "unwilling to eat
food that is boring, artless, and devoid of pleasure even if it's
somebody else's idea of healthful." Indeed, the gorgeous color
photography in The Healthy Kitchen will get you drooling over
healthy entrées like Warm Chicken and Asparagus Salad and desserts
like Lemon Yogurt Sorbet. You can be proud to serve these recipes to
your family and friends--many of the appetizers and entrées are
perfect party foods, sized to feed a dozen. Some recipes are notably
more complicated than others--Cold Vegetable Pasta Primavera
involves grilling five different veggies; baked Vegetable Wontons
are time-consuming if you're not familiar with the folding process.
However, Daley and Weil advise working your way up to these more
complex dishes.
