The Light Wins Every Battle For You

The true spiritual battle occurs in the "dark" of us, a contest
between the light of our wish to be better than the bitterness in us, or
higher than some heartache or hatred dragging us down. Whatever its
nature, this struggle is between forces that are dark and denying and
those light and affirming. The ground fought upon is for possession of our
interior; to the victor go the spoils.
One mistake many of us make is that we believe that our ignorance of this
contest in our consciousness is the same as immunity to its outcome.
Nothing could be further from the truth. There is much at stake. And one
of the reasons we may deny our responsibility in this cosmic contest is
not so much from ignorance of it, but out of feeling ourselves overcome by
its challenge.

What Is A Life Purpose?

What is a Life Purpose? Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose in
life? These are some of the oldest and most important questions posed by
human beings throughout history. They become the most profound when an
individual such as yourself begins to think and reflect on them. Upon
reading this workbook and doing some soul-searching, you will discover
your own unique answers to these important questions. The word purpose
means to have intentional results. When we are on purpose, we are making a
conscious effort to be or create something. Usually what we really want to
be or do seems out of reach, “impossible.” But we must remember
that the word “impossible” with an apostrophe is actually I’m (I am)
possible. And you are!
Dudley Lynch and Paul Lordis in their book Strategy
of the Dolphin said this: “We can define “purpose” in
several ways. For one, when we know our purpose, we have an anchor—a
device of the mind to provide some stability, to keep the surprises of a
creative universe from tossing us to and fro, from inflicting constant
seasickness on us. Or we can think of our purpose as being a master
nautical chart marking shoals and rocks. Perhaps the most profound thing
about “being on purpose” is that when that is our status, our
condition, and our comfort, we find our lives have meaning, and when are
“off purpose” we are confused about meanings and motives.”

It seems incredible that after four years of medical school and four to
six more years of orthopedic training, an orthopedist or physiatrist
(rehabilitation specialist) could still be deficient in his or her
knowledge of the knee. And yet it's true. Over the last four decades, the
world of orthopedics has become huge.
When I was in training in the early 1980s, some of my teachers had had
no formal training in orthopedic surgery (i.e., the surgery of bones and
joints). They had trained as general surgeons and somewhere along the line
had taken an interest in orthopedics. Up until the 1960s the sum total of
orthopedic knowledge was small enough that any general surgeon could
indulge in orthopedic surgery. General surgeons, for example, routinely
set fractured bones.

We are all students in the
"Earth school," according to authors Gary Zukav and Linda
Francis in The Heart of the Soul. And the time has come to create a
whole new lesson plan. For thousands of years we were outwardly focused,
as we mastered the tasks of cultivating food and building shelter.
Unfortunately, we are still outwardly fixated, obsessively accumulating
more wealth, material objects, and power. "What enabled our species
to survive so long is now bad medicine. In fact, it is poison,"

circumstances requires our hearts. It requires the ability to feel the
pain and joy of others, and to take their needs as seriously as we take
our own.
And here is where the heart lessons come in.
"As long as there are parts of yourself that reach outward to make
you feel safe, valuable, and loved, you need to identify them and heal
them." The authors include numerous exercises and activities to help
readers feel and understand their emotions in order to "empower the
soul" and live a more rewarding and joyful life. The words and
intentions are indeed poignant and worthwhile. The numerous boxes,
diagrams, and passages in bold print create a self-help structure that
some will find simplistic and others will find inviting.
