Readings
From A Spirit Messenger!
Friday, October 20th: WBZ 1030 AM Radio

Dr. Vicki Monroe is no
ordinary neon-sign "walk-ins welcome" psychic. Vicki's one of
those mediums you hear about from a friend who says, "This woman will
blow you away." Then your friend secretly scribbles her phone number
on a napkin, and you stash it away for later.
Okay, so for two weekly issues in a row we've written an article on
psychic mediums. But our response to last week's article was quite
impressive, so we thought we'd clue you in on another event that you don't
want to miss.
Dr. Vicki Monroe, spirit
messenger, will be giving free readings this Friday night while being
interviewed on WBZ 1030 (AM) News Radio. That's a Boston station, but this
particular show—the
Jordan Rich show— can be heard nationwide (it's a powerhouse of a
radio station).
The WBZ gig will air live
Friday, October 20th at midnight until two o'clock in the morning. Don't
get confused, that's actually Saturday morning, but who really considers
that morning? Spirit messenger, Vicki Monroe—she prefers 'spirit
messenger' over 'psychic' because it better describes what she does—will
be taking calls to tell people who their spirit guides are and what
messages they have for them.

How and Why I Forgave My Molester
by Mariah Burton Nelson
When I was fourteen, fifteen,
and sixteen, my swimming coach, a husband and father, molested me. He
convinced me we were having "an affair."
Much later, in my thirties, as
I began to understand that the accurate term was not "an affair"
but "statutory rape," I became enraged. I had been a young
teenager! He was twenty-five! That’s not adultery, that’s sexual
abuse!
Among sexual abuse survivors
and their advocates, there’s a lot of support for rage. I agree that
anger is appropriate -- for a while. Bruce violated my body, broke my
heart, and left me feeling ashamed of my "adulterous" behavior.
His actions were wrong, and felonious.
But when I turned forty a few
years ago, I began to ask myself, am I facing another forty years of
bitterness over something that happened in my teens? Might forgiveness be
possible? And might it be a healthier response than rage?...

Candida:
The Twentieth Century Epidemic
by Linda Richardson
Candida albicans is a type of yeast-like
fungus or parasite that inhabits the intestine, genital tract, mouth and
throat. Normally this fungus lives in healthy balance with the other
bacteria and yeasts in the body. Predisposing factors such as the
prolonged or repeated use of antibiotics, steroid drugs, anti-cancer
drugs, or birth control pills, and conditions such as diabetes or
menopause as well as the overall state of your health can disturb this
balance. These conditions cause the fungus to multiply, weakening the
immune system.
Candida travels through the bloodstream to
many parts of the body, the most common being the ears, nose,
gastro-intestinal tract, and bowels. This can cause all kinds of symptoms
and illnesses including constipation, diarrhea, colitis, abdominal pain,
canker sores, persistent heart burn, muscle and joint pain, sore throat,
congestion, nagging cough, numb hands and feet or face, tingling
sensations, acne, vaginitis, and adrenal problems...

This Week's Book Recommendation

The Unburdened Heart
5 Keys to
Forgiveness and Freedom
New from HarperSanFrancisco.
(See Above Article, How And Why I Forgave
My Molester by this Mariah Burton Nelson)
"I was 14 when Bruce started molesting me. He was 25, already a
father and coach. The abuse ended three summers later when my family
happened to move across the country. The impact of the abuse persisted for
more than two decades. Then I wondered, Might forgiveness be possible?
Then, everything changed."
Thus opens Mariah Burton Nelson's new book.
Drawing on her poignant story of betrayal and reconciliation, along with
new psychological research, ancient spiritual wisdom, poetry, and original
interviews with others who have forgiven for offenses great and small, she
shows how forgiveness can heal. The one who is healed -- the forgiver --
becomes free from the pain of the past, and also free to love differently,
and love more, in the future.
Mariah discussed The Unburdened
Heart on Good Morning America on May 29, 2000.

The Heart of Survival:
Cancer and the Spiritual Path
by Linda Marks
Everyone has a story. And as we develop
intimate friendships, move beyond the professional into the personal with
co-workers and as helping professionals, have the privilege of listening
to the deeper truths of those who walk through our doors, we discover the
courage, strength and power of spirit that underpins many of our lives.
Cancer is a modern day epidemic. It is complex, multifaceted, scary and
only partially understood. A diagnosis of cancer is a life-threatening
crisis. As with any crisis, it can also open a door to an emotional and
spiritual journey for those who are able to view it as one. Margie Levine
is a cancer survivor. Margie Davis is a personal essay writing teacher
whose close friend was diagnosed with cancer. Both Margies have written
powerful, practical new books from the heart that are resources to all
whose lives have been touched or scarred by cancer...

A Pilgrimage Deepens Faith and Prayer
by Judy Christine Copp
Walking slowly down the dark, stony path amid the silence of
several hundred pilgrims, flashlights serving as guiding lights along the
way, I suddenly became overwhelmed by what had just happened. Tears
started to wet my eyes, and I wanted to be alone with this profound
gratitude and humility welling up inside me. What started as a whimper
soon grew to sobs, and I went to the side of the narrow path to let the
other pilgrims pass me. I crouched low in surrender to this gift and
attempted to muffle my crying.
In the midst of this awesome grace I
wondered if I was the only one crying at full lung capacity in response to
the event that just occurred. The Blessed Virgin Mary had just come to
this hill to visit Ivan, one of the visionaries who sees her in daily
apparitions in this little village, Medjugorje. Although I saw nothing
during tonight's occurrence, Mary obviously left a blessing for these
pilgrims on the hill. Mine came as a profound feeling of divine grace.
The miracles of Medjugorje are not new, but
span 16 years from the time six children first saw an apparition of the
Blessed Mother on a rocky hillside in what was then communist Yugoslavia.
Many books and videos on Medjugorje exist today, detailing miraculous
events and personal testimonies! But when you make the trip yourself you
become part of the persistent, prayerful devotion that emanates from this
village...
