Have you ever stayed in a relationship even though it was really painful and detrimental to you? Have you ever wondered why you kept going back to a relationship even though on a rational level you knew that you deserved better? Have you ever felt an inexplicable tie to a person that surpassed reason? Past life connection can create havoc in your current life and keep you feeling powerless and stuck, however you can reclaim your power by using a technique that is now accessible to everyone. 

A few years ago a client came to me. Catherine was deeply wounded and hurting. She had been in an “on again, off again” relationship for a number of years now. The couple had gone through various breakups yet ended up together after every breakup. When she came to me, she had been through what she called hell and back again. My client loved this man dearly, yet there was a constant power struggle between the two and emotional abuse was at the forefront. Catherine desperately wanted to get away from him, yet every time she tried she was pulled back into the relationship right away. She described herself as being mesmerized by this man. I understood that she needed compassion, an open heart and some help. She asked me in a quiet voice: “What do I need to do to get out of this?” 

1) Name it and claim it

When you are in a painful relationship for an extended period of time you will often disengage yourself emotionally, talk the issue “down”, beat yourself up, close your eyes in an attempt to feel better, lash out and be the victim, or simply try to qualify what you are experiencing. Eventually, when you hit rock bottom, a time does come, where you take a step back and look at what is truly going on. You begin to see and understand how much pain you truly are in. Catherine was ready to look at how she was feeling and accept that something was wrong. Catherine felt powerless, anxious, angry and upset. She was ready for change.

2) Every soul has Akashic Records

Every living being has what is called an Akashic Record. It is an energetic library where the soul’s journey through time is recorded. It is also called the Book of Life and is based on the concept that we have multiple incarnations through time and space with the same soul at the helm. The Records are the place where every detail about your soul is energetically written, including your current life, past life and possible future life. Everyone has it, yet it cannot be physically seen. This non-tangible place can be accessed through our energy field. The beauty of the Akashic Records is that once you are able to access them you can find answers to a myriad of questions. The Book of Life contains your personal blueprint and includes all information about your life lessons, life purpose, reason for being, all relationship ties, all agreements ever made between yourself and those who are in your life, as well as information on all circumstances and experiences in your life. Each incarnation contains life lessons and at the core is the principle that over these different incarnations we grow spiritually and emotionally, eventually being the light, holding the light and shining the light. 

I took Catherine into her Akashic Records and we began by looking at her connection to her partner from the soul’s perspective. We wanted to know the why and the how as well as possibilities to help her move forward. So first we looked at Life Lessons.

3) Life Lessons

Catherine wanted to know what life lessons still needed to be completed with her partner. The key to knowing that a relationship is worth investigating is if the person elicits an emotional response from us. Catherine could see that her partner was eliciting lots of feelings within her (in this case negative). She felt fear, anger, guilt, shame and grief whenever she thought of her partner. Now that she had distanced herself enough from the relationship she wanted to know what was at the core of these emotions. They almost felt rogue to her. Catherine mentioned that every time she tried to physically remove herself from this relationship an illness, a death in the family or other emotional crisis for her partner erupted. When we spoke about what she thought the cause was, she tearfully told me that she owed it to him. I simply asked “Why?” knowing that the Akashic Records would bring us clarity on this seemingly simple question
Before moving on to the reason for this feeling of being indebted I want to look at the purpose of life lessons. What is at the core of life lessons? In my experience the key to life, and therefore all of life lessons is love (including self love), compassion (including self compassion), speaking your truth from the heart space and stepping into your own power. These lessons are learned over many lifetimes and are sometimes difficult to navigate, as there is more at play than meets the eye. In Catherine’s case she was putting her partner’s needs above her own and therefore consistently giving her power away. It was clearly her life lesson to step into her power and speak her truth. We wanted to look further and understand the root cause of her feeling of being indebted to her partner.

4) Past Life Connections

Why was Catherine feeling indebted to her partner? We spent some time looking at her past life connection with her partner, as I could feel that she did not become indebted in any way to him in this lifetime. She was feeling a powerful pull to stand by his side and cater to his every whim. Logic seemed to defy her actions at first glance.

To truly understand the power of past life connections I want to explain a little about how they work. Our soul reincarnates hundreds if not thousands of times. Many lifetimes are with the same group of souls, so your current brother may have been your mother in another lifetime, or your current friend a Lover, or your current child your father. So why would past lives have any effect on your current life? As I mentioned earlier the soul’s energetic makeup or blueprint is contained in your extended energy field. Usually it is dormant and you do not have active memories of past lives because when you reincarnate the physical body forgets your connections, your soul however, remembers. A lot of your past lives may contain experiences of great trauma and duress and in those very emotional moments vows, contracts and agreements are made to secure survival.

In Catherine’s case I asked if there was a vow of indebtedness at play and if so, whether we could see the origin. I was shown images of times past, when Catherine was a male scribe in the Middle Ages. I could see her partner was there too and he also was a scribe. The interesting thing was they were both in prison. Even in that life time there was a strong connection between the two, one stronger than just a simple friendship. I could feel that they had helped each other out and they were planning an escape. They knew that they had very little time left, as death was knocking on their door as punishment. Catherine’s friend (partner in this current lifetime) said he would save Catherine. He would find a way to get both of them out of prison. Catherine, as the male scribe, was very grateful and in an emotional outburst said “I will always be by your side, no matter what. Together we will go through thin and thick. I owe you my life”. 
Catherine was speechless as I was presenting her with this information. She finally understood why she felt as though she had to remain by her partner’s side. It became clear why the simple thought of leaving him made her feel guilty and ashamed. Catherine had inadvertently made this vow in a past life to help her survive. The memory was activated when she met her partner in this current life. Even though she had no physical memories of the past life, she could feel the effects of the vow, as it was still in place. It was literally causing havoc in her current life. Under this vow she had no choice but to stay in the relationship. Catherine felt relief and pain at the same time as she now knew the root of her debt toward her partner.

Vows, contracts and agreements stay in place until they are either fulfilled or released. They can and do stay with us through many lifetimes and are activated each time we meet the person (or rather soul). Within the Akashic Records you have the ability to clear obsolete vows, contracts and agreements. It is a wonderful tool to help you let go of what no longer serves you or your highest good and allow you to move forward.

5) Clearing Out the Old 

As I mentioned earlier the Akashic Records are the soul’s blueprint. The beauty of the Book of Life is that you can obtain all the information you need to resolve issues such as Catherine’s. One of the biggest advantages of working in the Records is that you can ask for permission to release, rescind, null and void vows and contracts you made in past lives that have become obsolete and are hindering you in your current life. 

We asked whether we would get permission to release the vow Catherine had made, setting the intention that it would help her in her path to empowerment and speaking her truth. I asked Catherine to visualize a column of white light reaching from the heavens down to the core of the Earth. As we talked a little bit more about the type of vow she had made with her partner I received the image of a scroll, some ink and a feather. I asked Catherine if she was truly ready to let go of this vow. Once I had her permission I asked her to place the symbols for the vow into her column of white light. We asked to cut all cords of attachment and cleared the column of white light of the vow. We cleared the vow from her energy field. When I asked Catherine how she felt she answered simply that she was tired and sad.

It was clear that we also needed to look at the emotional side of this vow. I asked Catherine to find words to describe her feelings, to find the emotions she was feeling. One by one we took these emotions and cleared them from her energy field using the column of white light. Once complete Catherine was feeling better and there was an improvement. She was feeling calm and peaceful.

6) Bringing in the New

The last piece to help reclaim your power is to introduce new thought forms and new ideas into your energy field. When you do an extensive clearing, space is created within your energy field. I fill the space with unconditional love and bring in supportive thought forms. I work with unique affirmations which, when repeated eventually become your new positive truths. I use it as a support system to keep you on track and help you stay in your power. 

While still in the Akashic Records I requested affirmations to help Catherine stay in the beautiful space we had created. I asked Catherine to use these affirmations daily and let go of any thoughts that were negative; actively stopping and removing them and filling the space with positive affirmations. This helped change her energy pattern over time and created something positive and joyful instead. She had reclaimed her power!

The Akashic Records are a wonderful resource for anyone and everyone. By tapping into the Akashic Records you can identify the issue you are having, understand your current life lessons, release any obsolete past life ties that are not supportive, remove any negative emotions and finally help you create space for new, positive and empowering thoughts! All of this leads to a more fulfilled and joyful life where you consciously make the choices you desire and you are free to move forward.
